Scholarship Success and Getting Ready for Start of Semester!

Wednesday Wisdom

This is it - the countdown to start of semester is ON!

Did you do everything you wanted to this summer?

If not, you have about 5 more days! What's on your list that you want to make sure you do?

Personally, because I do all my work online, I'm going to spend as much time as possible working on café patios. I'll also be starting a much stricter schedule in September working on my dissertation proposal, so I'll be taking some time this week to relax.

Hit reply and let me know what's on your summer to-do list for the next few days!

Resources

Today, I'm sharing a success story! I have been working with a student since the beginning of August for just a couple of hours a week, and we have prepped all of her scholarship applications that are due up until December 31st!

So in just a few weeks, we prepped 14 applications, including writing all the essays, so all she has to do is review and submit them before the deadline! How great is that!

She has the potential to be awarded upwards of $10,000, which could pay for her remaining year of studies.

Here's how we did it:

Starting with my scholarship list, we went through and deleted everything she wasn't qualified for.

Then we added her program, province and university-specific scholarships in order of the due dates.

Once we had them organized, we started with the ones due in August and September and prepared everything. She figured out who her references could be, and we worked on the essays.

Together, we would review the requirements for the essays and brainstorm outlines, which she would take away and turn into essays. Then we would review them together for flow and written accuracy.

Now, she can spend the Fall semester focusing on her courses and just submitting the scholarship applications before the deadlines!

I can't wait to find out how much she is awarded!

If you think this type of support would be helpful for you, hit REPLY and let's see if we can work together!

If you would rather work on scholarship applications in a small group, online setting, join my group scholarship coaching sessions in September! These sessions run on Tuesdays, Sept 12, 19 & 26 from 8-9pm Eastern/5-6pm Pacific, and we'll go through the steps above together in a small group setting! This is only $60.

Wednesday Wisdom: Study Smarter, Not Harder! When I was an undergrad student, working away at my bachelors degree, I didn't even know there were different ways to study. But there ARE! And some of them are way better than others. University students should spend their first semester or year trying out new study methods to see what works best for them. We all have different preferred methods of learning! For example, I do not learn well from listening. Having a text read to me is pretty much...

Wednesday Wisdom Are you familiar with the Maclean's University Rankings? They differ from other rankings because they focus only on Canadian universities, and they share a ton of really helpful information for students and their supporters as you make decisions about uni! They also have a comprehensive program ranking list, so you can find out which unis offer the best business, nursing, engineering, computer science or education programs! Additionally, they very clearly share and explain...

Wednesday Wisdom Over the next couple of months, I'll be sharing tips for planning your program, university and career! This is particularly geared at grade 12s, who are receiving their university offers over the next couple of months and will have to make decisions. But it will also be helpful for current students who want to make sure they're in the right place and younger high school students, so make sure you share it with anyone who might be interested! Today, I want to talk about...
